Frown, Forehead Lines and Crows’ Feet
Why do frown lines, forehead lines and crows’ feet occur?
Though they are often associated with age, frown lines, forehead lines and crows’ feet are actually the effects of the repeated contraction of the muscles of the face affecting the skin on top. These lines initially occur with animation (“dynamic lines”), and with time tend to remain at rest (“static lines”).
How can we soften frown lines, forehead lines and crows’ feet?
Since these lines are formed by muscles “working overtime”, relaxing these muscles can reduce these lines, especially if they are dynamic (from movement/animation). This is most effectively done using Botox and other wrinkle-relaxing injections. Sometimes, this is combined with soft dermal fillers, especially when lines are static (remain at rest).
When is the best time to start treating frown lines, forehead lines and crows’ feet?
There is no set age to begin treatment. We often talk about a sweet spot when deciding when to consider starting Botox. When lines from animation (frowning, squinting) start to settle on the face for several hours and contribute to a more weathered appearance
