DPNs
What are “DPNs”?
Arguably the most famous person with DPNs is Morgan Freeman! DPNs are growth that most commonly occur on the face, and they are in the skin tag family rather than the mole family. This means they do not have deep roots and are readily treatable. Theycan also occur on the neck and chest, and tend to occur in individuals with East Asian, South Asian or African descent more commonly. DPNs are not dangerous, but many individuals seek cosmetic treatment.
What cosmetic treatments are available for this condition?
Our preferred treatment for DPNs is the use of a green light laser (vascular laser) that will be absorbed selectively by the pigment in DPNs. This procedure maximizes the improvement per treatment session, often improving DPNs by 50-80% in one treatment, while minimizing risks such as temporary hyperpigmentation. We have even published our experience with this treatment in the scientific literature (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38349854/).
