Neck Lines
Why do neck lines occur?
“Tech neck”, “turkey neck” – our patients have many names for changes that affect the neck. Many different changes can affect the neck.
Platysmal bands are vertical bands related to contraction of the neck muscle called the platysma. These become more obvious in athletic patients or in patients who carry a lot of tension in this area.
Necklace lines are the horizontal lines that can occur in skin folds on the neck.
Crepey skin is often observed on the neck, and appears as abnormal texture.
How can we improve the skin of the neck?
Platysmal bands can be relaxed with wrinkle-relaxers like Botox. Very fine dermal fillers or even SkinVive/SkinBoosters can improve the appearance of necklace lines. Crepey skin can be helped with biostimulators like Radiesse or with skin-tightening treatments like Thermage or Ultherapy.
Combination treatments tend to get the best results. Curious to see if you are a good candidate for treatment? Contact our office for a consultation.
