Radiofrequency Microneedling
What is radiofrequency micro-needling?
Radiofrequency microneedling is just that: a device with very tiny needles that are applied to the skin by our nurses to deliver radiofrequency heat energy to foster healthy skin structure and appearance. Our office uses the Secret RF device.
The treatment targets fine lines, texture, pore size, light reflection and certain types of acne scars. My patients who are keen to do a resurfacing treatment but won’t or cannot have the “social downtime” of a Fraxel or more aggressive laser will be happy to hear that Secret RF has a quicker recovery time – more on this shortly as I show my own treatment.
The face, neck and chest can be treated – as well as other body types including scars. Single treatments can give a boost or maintain complexion – if significant change is required, 3+ treatments may be recommended.
You can expect the typical prep ahead of the procedure:
- Treatment review and consent forms
- Photos
- Cleansing the skin
- Numbing cream
Two passes are delivered to the face, including around the eyes. The numbing cream helps soften the spicy heat sensation from the treatment. Definitely hot! (That’s how you know it works…). Stinging and heat are controlled with ice after the procedure.
Expect to be quite red after the procedure, and pink the next day. Skin texture will rough for a few days – close-ups reveals the tiny areas of microneedle exposures. Overall, the social downtime is very manageable, yet it can provide a fresh and bright complexion a week later.
Professional patients who won’t or can’t take time off of work to recover from treatment for skin texture will be keen to Secret RF. It is a solid compromise between doing a treatment that will move the needle while not upending an entire work schedule.
We are always keen to match the right treatment with your skin, desire for improvement and downtime. Let’s see if Secret radiofrequency microneedling fits in your plan at your next in-office visit.
