Tixel
What is Tixel?
Tixel is a newer generation of technology that uses a heat plate to deliver heat energy to the skin surface that creates micro-channels. It complements our generous offerings in skin resurfacing – a category of treatments where skin surface is improved by causing a controlled skin injury that stimulates a healing response.
Because Tixel is not a laser device, it is especially suitable to treat the delicate skin of the eyelids. We are excited to see how well it will do for the changes of crepiness under the eyes. A series of 3+ treatments is recommended.
The usual treatment prep precedes the treatment:
- Treatment review and consent forms
- Photos
- Cleansing the skin
- Numbing cream
The handpiece exposure feels hot, but it is very fast. Definitely not one of our most painful procedures, especially for patients who are familiar with Fraxel, Thermage or Ultherapy. Though we often treat eyelids and the area around the eyes, it is possible to treat the full face and neck.
There is a sunburn/stingy feeling after the procedure that was is relieved with icing.
Eyelids feel “raw” into the next day, and the eyelids are noticeably swollen the next day. The skin texture feels a bit like sandpaper for up to 5 days, with close-ups revealing the tiny grid of Tixel exposure.
Ask us if you are a good candidate for a series of treatments next time you are in office.
